Weddings and Formal Events. From weddings to formal gatherings, even frat and sorority parties, the Montgomery Zoo, Mann Wildlife Learning Museum, or Overlook Café can accommodate a large number of people, complete with sit down dinners or an elegant buffet. Cash bars are available, as well as a PA system. Catering menus may include both hot and cold hors d’oeuvres, buffet and formal dining. A variety of animals may be available for after hours viewing at the Zoo. Animals include the giraffes, lions, chimpanzees and more.

One of the more popular times to host an event at the zoo is during our Christmas Light Festival. Events are held in the entertainment tent, which is beautifully decorated for the holidays. Guests can enjoy the Christmas Light Festival, as well as mingle and socialize among themselves.

The Mann Museum offers an indoor setting that will easily accommodate a sit-down dinner or cocktail buffet. The ambiance from the beautiful “Marina” at the Museum will add a touch of wildlife to any party.

Picnics and Shelter Rentals

Less formal event. On the less formal side, the Montgomery Zoo is a great place to host a family reunion, corporate gathering, birthday party, church group or a family fun day. The sights and sounds of the Zoo make an exciting and exotic backdrop for any special occasion. Shelters can be reserved in advance; and are located at the front gate area or the new playground. Rental fees start as low as $65 for a three-hour rental.

Picnics, outside food and beverages are allowed at all shelters; however, we do ask that you refrain from using cups with lids and/or straws, no balloons and no cooking devices of any sort. These are not allowed for the protection and safekeeping of our animals. All guests must vacate the shelter after rental time has elapsed. Also, all shelter areas must be cleaned after usage to keep our Zoo as clean as you found it.

Shelter Rentals - Additional Tables and Chairs

Our shelters can hold from 20-50 people, depending on the size shelter you rent. All of our shelters are equipped with picnic tables with benches. If you need additional seating and tables, those are available for rental. A six foot rectangular table which seats 6-8 people is: $9 per table. Folding chairs are: $1.60 per chair. If you need to rent additional tables and chairs, please make these arrangements when renting your shelter so we can better serve you and your guests.
